Samba RPM Packages for SUSE Linux Enterprise and openSUSE
=========================================================

This location provides packages which include a valid YaST, yum, and smart
repository definition (repo file). The repo file is pointing to one of the
STABLE or TESTING repository as maintained with the openSUSE Build Service.

Download and install (zypper in <filename>) one of these packages and as the
next step call for example

   zypper -r network_samba_STABLE dup

this command will only replace packages provided by the repo named
network_samba_STABLE

Please check http://en.openSUSE.org/Samba for general information on Samba as
part of SUSE Linux Enterprise or openSUSE products, links to binary packages
of the most current Samba version, and a bug reporting how-to.

openSUSE Build Service naming convention
----------------------------------------

Packages from the repo named 'STABLE' include the last released Samba.org
version.

While packages from the repo named 'TESTING' includes Samba.org pre and rc
releases. Be extra careful with these.

The subdirectories named 'factory' have packages for the currently developed
version of openSUSE.

How do I get a newer version, patch, or bugfix for my SUSE Linux product?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Customers of the Enterprise Server and business products are informed by mail
about security and important bug fixes of Samba.

Customers of the openSUSE find updates at
download.opensuse.org/update/<SUSE-VERSION>/<ARCHITECTURE>/

All these official updates are available for manual download and for the tools
as mentioned in the 'YaST, yum, and smart installation sources' section of
this document.
